How much free time is there on the service program?
You'll have ample free time on evenings and weekends to participate in local activities and enjoy cultural attractions in the area.
What are the free-time options?

Indian culture - music, dance, temple art - is found in its purest form in Southern India. Chennai, the sprawling regional capital with a population of nearly four million, is the cradle of the ancient Dravidian civilization, one of the world's oldest articulate cultures, whose legacy is found in the amazingly ornate temples with soaring towers and intricate sculpture that dot that region.Well-known nearby attractions include Mamallapuram, site of a world-famous shore temple (dating to 700 AD), one of the most photographed edifices in India. Another is the charming French-influenced coastal town of Pondicherry. You can also visit bird and wildlife sanctuaries, historic colonial forts and Indian Ocean beaches.
Will Global Volunteers arrange free time for me?
No. Because of our status as a non-profit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, our team leaders and consultants are prohibited from mailing non-program-related arrangements for you, although they can provide general guidance and advice, including a list of activities explored and enjoyed by previous teams.
