What is the current exchange rate?
For currency conversion information, refer to the following website: FXConverter

Where do I exchange money?
You may exchange money at the aiport in either Johannesberg, Cape Town or East London. If you choose to leave Malungeni over the weekend, you may also have an opportunity to exchange money in Mthatha, a town approximately 12 miles from Malungeni. While you'll need very little spending money in the host community, please plan accordingly to have local currency available for incidentals and free-time excursions.

Can I use cash, credit cards or checks?
Visa is the most widely accepted credit card in South Africa. Travelers Checks are accepted at some foreign exchange offices. Cash is more widely accepted and generally gets a better rate than travelers checks. Large, unmarked new style design US bills are the best option.
