The Original Adventures In Service

Join Service-Learning Worldwide

Students make a difference! We value your interest, your insights and your service on our programs. Working directly with local people through our genuine development partnerships, you gain the very best "real life"education and cross-cultural understanding. You'll find our service-learning programs are a "near-perfect" match for expanding offerings within Study Abroad offices and other service-learning curricula.

About us: Founded in 1984, Global Volunteers is an international non-sectarian, nonprofit, NGO (non-governmental organization) in partnership with host communities and local leaders worldwide.  Our mission is to wage peace globally, person-to-person, by mobilizing teams of short-term volunteers in service on local development projects. Each year, some 200 teams work in over 100 communities in 21 countries. Students volunteering independently and in groups have made a significant contribution to these programs around the world and in the United States for 25 years. They've taught conversational English, math, and other classroom subjects; cared for vulnerable and at-risk children in children's homes and orphanages; socialized with community elders; helped construct and repair classrooms, community centers, and health clinics; and provided health care assistance to poor children and their parents.

We know you like to travel! Service with Global Volunteers is Travel That Feeds The Soul®

Today, students are joining our teams in greater numbers than any time in the past! We're working with universities and colleges across the country on service-learning programs to offer students broad benefits: to develop intercultural communication skills; to enhance interpersonal skills, to problem-solve professional situations in an intercultural context, and to enhance critical thinking skills. Check out our unique Philosophy of Service, and contact us for details.  We need you to help us make a real difference around the world!

"I realized how my contribution made up a piece of the relationship between the United States and India ... and how, when combined with other (volunteers) it's very influential. This experience gave me a unique and unparalleled educational growth, especially at such a formative point in my life. It definitely will affect my future career plans." ~ Sara Marley, India volunteer
